This is a great spot to hitchhike to Zenica! The funniest thing happened here, last year my friends and I also hitchhiked in Bosnia on this route. After visiting Sarajevo we wanted to visit this sweet Bosnian lady we met last year in Vites. At the petrol station we got picked up by this Bosnian guy. After two minutes in the car we both realised that we met eachother last year on the same route. He was so happy to see us again that he bought us a beer :D. I stood right behind the Croatian border and got a few people stopping. I walked there from MetkoviΔ and got told by a border guard to go a bit behind the border station out of its sight. Similar experience as a few before. Good spot but took some time, after 2h and many cars that passed I found a truck directly to Sarajevo. The spot is five star. Plenty of space to pull over, good visibility. Tons of slow traffic. The people? Hmmmmm...With such a good spot and tons of traffic, all of which was going towards sarajevo, I may have had high expectations, but it turned into a 2.5 hour wait, which considering just how many cars where passing and how good the spot was, felt a little excessive.
The thing which was properly demoralising though, was the fact that almost nobody smiled or waved or acknowledged me like in normal countries. Everyone seemed to hate their lives and treated the lone hitchiker shivering in the snow with total apathy. I got lots of frowns and cold hard stares. I agree with the other comment at the gazprom spot (free wifi btw) Nobody here seems to give a damn about hitchikers.
All was well as eventually I did get picked up by the biggest gigachad on the planet (they spoke perfect english too) and had an awsome ride straight to sarajevo, but still I found the way people looked at me here unlike anywhere else in the world, and pretty unexpected. If you want to hitchike to sarajevo, make sure you be ok with waiting, and getting ignored/frowned at a lot. Hopefully it'll be better for you though :)
